El fundador y jefe de la familia que se estudia aquí fue uno de los más grndes encomenderos de Michoacán: Juan Infante. Este encomendero y sus hijos, gracias a su carácter de empresarios y poco conciliadores, dejaron abundantes documentos de negocios y de pleitos.
