Se da a conocer la guerra formal declarada por el Imperio mexicano en diciembre
de 1822 al reino de España como ejercicio de la recién establecida soberanía del
nuevo Estado, es decir, como acto jurídico, así como la ratificación que de ella
hizo la República federal hasta la firma del Tratado de Paz suscrito en 1836. Se
distingue esta guerra entre naciones independientes de la, hasta entonces, “guerra
de independencia” y se dan a conocer las principales acciones bélicas entre ambos
países.
