El objetivo de este artículo es reflexionar sobre el sentido histórico
del cimarronaje brasileño, es decir, sobre el alcance transformador de
esta modalidad de resistencia esclava.1 Partiendo de la revisión crítica
de las distintas aproximaciones de la historiografía brasileña a ese
fenómeno, el texto plantea que la vivencia de la libertad y el
enfrentamiento con el sistema esclavista son elementos imprescindibles
de cambio.
