Las artistas estadounidenses Marion y Grace Greenwood fueron las primeras
mujeres extranjeras en pintar murales en México, experiencia que les permitió
continuar su carrera como muralistas en Estados Unidos. De modo que, en el
presente artículo, se analizarán los murales que realizaron entre 1937 y 1940 en
los proyectos del New Deal y el mural La historia de Tennessee que pintó Marion
en 1955 en el Centro Universitario Carolyn P. Brown Memorial en la Universidad
de Tennessee, en Knoxville, con el propósito de identificar los elementos que
compartieron con el muralismo mexicano, las semejanzas con los que realizaron
en el territorio mexicano, cómo fueron percibidos por el público e identificar si
llegaron a sufrir algún ataque o censura a causa de la temática.
