El presente artículo examina la función del Departamento Autónomo de Prensa y Publicidad como creador y difusor de lo que buscaba representar el gobierno federal del México post revolucionario. Para ello analizaremos el corpus de filmes producidos por esta instancia, así como las estrategias de exhibición de dichos filmes, y partiremos del precepto de que existió una selección cuidadosa de materiales mostrados en el extranjero, que buscaban llegar a públicos específicos. Por ello, los contenidos de los filmes de propaganda seguían de manera rigurosa los puntos más relevantes de la agenda política de Lázaro Cárdenas del Río.
