Este artículo examina los cambios en las formas en que el diario La Voz de Michoacán se refiere a un sector poco abordado por la historiografía mexicana: los sordos. A través de analizar las notas relacionadas con ellos y contextualizándolas en procesos como la implementación del modelo médico rehabilitatorio, el posterior énfasis en los derechos humanos y la no discriminación a las personas con discapacidad auditiva en Morelia, se destaca el papel de la prensa como vehículo para difundir y modificar las opiniones y perspectivas sobre ese colectivo.
