Poco a poco se empieza a escribir en nuestro país una historia política distinta, por cuanto que intenta acometer el estudio de realidades a menudo desdeñadas, como los discursos y los sistemas de valores y creencias. Distinta también porque trata de apartarse de una historiografía de cuño tradicional -que se sigue haciendo en nuestro país, por cierto-y que se significa por su elitismo, su carácter a menudo biográfico, su énfasis en lo particular y puntual, su índole narrativa y su desdén por el análisis, su preocupación casi obsesiva por el acontecimiento, por las pequeñeces, por batallas, tratados, pronunciamientos, asonadas y revueltas, engarzados, como diría Jacques Julliard, en el hilo de un tiempo maravillosamente liso y homogéneo.
