El “cura de pueblo” ha sido un personaje de singular importancia
en la microhistoria del occidente de México, del cual existen numerosas
menciones desde el siglo XVIII.2 “Cura de pueblo”, como expresión                                                                                                            idiomática popular se refiere al clérigo inmiscuido en la conformidad
de los hábitos y costumbres, dedicado a celebrar misa, administrar los
sacramentos y otras actividades propias de su ministerio. La expresión,
vaga en su significado espacial de “pueblo”, refiere, en el sentido
común de quien lo emplea, al cura y a su parroquia, ya sea rural o
urbana.
