Esta colaboración analiza “Los defensores de la integridad nacional” obra
pintada por Alfredo Zalce en 1951 con el auspicio del Museo Michoacano y
el Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes. La obra, que muchos críticos consideran
su mural mejor logrado, se ubica en la escalera del Museo Regional
Michoacano y ocupa una superficie de 135m2 . El objetivo del presente texto
es el de estudiar la obra no sólo a partir de su composición y temática, sino
también a traves de la trayectoria profesional de Zalce, del contenido de sus
obras; de las ideas e influencias pictóricas de las que abrevó, así como de la
influencia que recibió de los muralistas mexicanos y otros artistas y escritores
afiliados a la Liga de Escritores y Artistas Revolucionarios (LEAR) y al
Taller de Gráfica Popular (TGP).
