La revisión de los textos más conocidos sobre la participación de Vicente
Guerrero en la gesta independentista mexicana nos deja una certeza:
respecto al comienzo de esa carrera militar, esto es, al momento anterior
a diciembre de 1811, no hay una versión predominante. Por el contrario,
se mantiene hasta la fecha una marcada confusión, trátese de los autores
que escribieron en el siglo XIX, algunos incluso contemporáneos de tan
reconocido hombre de armas; trátese de los que lo hicieron en la centuria
inmediata o bien, de los que lo han abordado en estos primeros años del
siglo XXI. En este artículo citaré a varios de ellos.
